March is Minnesota Food Share Month!
Watch the Cans Stack Up!

March 14th Bingo Food Shelf Contributions
Attendees at the Chamber of Commerce Bingo Night on Thursday, March 14 contributed $117 and 148.50 pounds of food to The Peace Center, collected by the evening’s sponsor, State Bank of New Prague.
The Bank is building a pyramid of food in our lobby for the Peace Center Food Shelf in New Prague. During the month of March we are collecting non-perishable food items. Please drop off your donation and we will weigh it and add it to our tower of food. We are also collecting monetary funds and those wonderful Coborn’s “Ham Stamps”.
Noreen Seurer, director of the Peace Center, stated that between 400-500 people are served by the local food shelf each month. Each individual receives 34 pounds of food at each visit. That means that The Peace Center distributes anywhere between 13,600 to 17,000 pounds of food each month.
The Bank is a registered Minnesota Food Share collection site and we designated the Peace Center as our food shelf. During the month of March, according to Seurer, any money donated to the Peace Center is “enhanced”. She explained that during this month, the Center receives additional funding for each dollar raised.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED!

Escaping the Minnesota Winter?
Planning travel abroad?
You may have read in some of the local newspapers about the increase in reports of credit, debit, and ATM card fraud. Fraudulent activity appears to be increasing in certain areas and with certain merchants. As part of our fraud prevention procedures, we may place “blocks” on particular merchants, businesses, or countries to limit the exposure to this type of activity. Currently we placed a block on all transactions originating from Mexico because of a recent influx of fraudulent transactions. Debit and ATM cards will not work in Mexico unless you notify us of travel to Mexico. Please call Katie Svoboda, Amy Fischer, Rita Goggins, or Ann Slavik in Customer Service to have a travel alert put on your card for your travel dates in Mexico.
It’s a good idea to contact our Customer Service representatives whenever you leave Minnesota. They will be happy to put a travel alert on your debit card for you!
Happy travels!

State Bank sponsors “Mittens for Many”
Benefits Adopt-A-Family Program
The State Bank of New Prague is asking you to participate in its 14th annual “Mittens for Many” program. The campaign begins Monday, Nov. 19 and will continue through Thursday, Dec. 6. It is coordinated with the Adopt-A-Family program in New Prague.
In 2011, the number of families that were served by the Adopt-A-Family program topped out at 385 families, including 879 children! Unfortunately, the need continues to grow. Because of the continued growth, the Adopt-a-Family program joined forces with the LeSueur County Santa Anonymous and can provide for the needs of all who come to them for help.
Adopt a Family will continue to provide shopping lists for clothing and outerwear gifts. The bank is also collecting toys, games, and other gifts for children ages 0-16. These gifts will be distributed through the Santa Anonymous program, where parents will make selections for their own children.
Items for the “Mittens for Many” program can be brought to the bank during regular business hours, Mondays through Fridays, 9 am to 4:30pm and through Saturdays, 9 am to noon. For more information, call the State Bank of New Prague at 952-758-4491 or email bank staff at: customercare@e-sbnp.com.

Savers Express Summer Party

Summer Library Party
Ann Slavik
Customer Service/Marketing
State Bank’s Savers Express Saving Club sponsored the New Prague Library’s Summer Reading Program End of Season Party in August. Four brave gentlemen, Mayor Chuck Nickolay, Police Chief Mark Vosejpka, Falcon Ridge Elementary Principal Dave Giesen, and Gymnastics Coach Doug Amundsen, volunteered to man the dunk tank. Several children, in the bank after the party at the library, were so excited that they were able to dunk their principal! The four men were very much in support of the summer reading program that is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Our Savers Express Saving Club members were treated to a pizza lunch before the Library Party. We transported our popcorn wagon to the library for free popcorn during the party. Besides the dunk tank, children enrolled in the reading program were able to slide down a giant blow-up slide and slather themselves with tattoos.

Thank you to our customers and all of New Prague for contributing to our free “Old Electronics Recycling Project”. You brought in over 800 computer towers, monitors, printers and other electronic equipment. We had hundreds of keyboards, mice, scanners, copy machines, speakers, cell phones, stereos, radios, phones and answering machines dropped off at the Bank of Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28.
The recycling company out of Minneapolis spent Monday, July 30th loading 3 large trucks with all the items.
