Minnesota FoodShare 2014
Be the hero. Fight hunger!
March is Minnesota FoodShare month and the bank is your dropsite for donations. Accepted donations include money, Coborns' Ham Stamps, non-perishable food items and toiletries. After you donate, be sure to write your name on a paper can so we can hang your name on our "Heroes Fighting Hunger" acknowledgment wall! See our front desk for more information!
Your generosity benefits the local Peace Center food shelf. Together, we can fight hunger and help our neighbors in need.
With your help in 2013, we raised $1,417.97 in cash, 1,163 pounds of food and 24 hams from 1,528 donated Coborns' Ham Stamps.
Thank you for your donations!
Escaping the Minnesota Winter?
Planning travel abroad?
You may have read in some of the local newspapers about the increase in reports of credit, debit, and ATM card fraud. Fraudulent activity appears to be increasing in certain areas and with certain merchants. As part of our fraud prevention procedures, we may place “blocks” on particular merchants, businesses, or countries to limit the exposure to this type of activity. Currently we placed a block on all transactions originating from Mexico because of a recent influx of fraudulent transactions. Debit and ATM cards will not work in Mexico unless you notify us of travel to Mexico. Please call Katie Svoboda, Amy Fischer, Heather Gilhousen or Barb Nyreen to have a travel alert put on your card for your travel dates in Mexico.
It’s a good idea to contact our customer service representatives whenever you leave Minnesota. They will be happy to put a travel alert on your debit card for you!

Mittens for Many
November 16, 2012
State Bank sponsors “Mittens for Many”
Benefits Adopt-A-Family Program
The State Bank of New Prague is asking you to participate in its 14th annual “Mittens for Many” program. The campaign begins Monday, Nov. 19 and will continue through Thursday, Dec. 6. It is coordinated with the Adopt-A-Family program in New Prague.
In 2011, the number of families that were served by the Adopt-A-Family program topped out at 385 families, including 879 children! Unfortunately, the need continues to grow. Because of the continued growth, the Adopt-a-Family program joined forces with the LeSueur County Santa Anonymous and can provide for the needs of all who come to them for help.
Adopt a Family will continue to provide shopping lists for clothing and outerwear gifts. The bank is also collecting toys, games, and other gifts for children ages 0-16. These gifts will be distributed through the Santa Anonymous program, where parents will make selections for their own children.
Items for the “Mittens for Many” program can be brought to the bank during regular business hours, Mondays through Fridays, 9 am to 4:30pm and through Saturdays, 9 am to noon. For more information, call the State Bank of New Prague at 952-758-4491 or email bank staff at: email@example.com.
And The Winner Is....
November 8, 2012
The Viking is a Winner!
Gay Gerhardt, one of our tellers, won the employee pumpkin decorating contest by a landslide! Coming in second was the piggy bank pumpkin decorated by our high school teller, Bethany Hrabe. Here are the rest of the results of the vote: Third place – Sesame Street’s Count – Monica Carlson, compliance officer; fourth place – Carmen Miranda – Ann Slavik, customer service; fifth place – Black Spider – Amy Fischer, customer service; sixth place – Rita Goggins, customer service; seventh place – Bat pumpkin, Katie Svoboda, customer service. Receiving participation prizes included: White Spider – Sue Bisek, loan department; Fairy – Brittany Carlson, operations department; Witch – Marcy Dvorak, deputy registrar/teller; clown - Heather Gilhousen, deputy registrar/teller; John Deere - Patty Hoefs, loan department; Go Vote! – Lisa Korbel, loan department; and Witch Princess – Madonna Novotny, teller.

State Bank Donates Rug to Falcon Ridge Elementary
September 28, 2012
Helping Students Focus on Positive Behavior
Falcon Ridge Elementary in New Prague implemented a 2-year program titled Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS). The goal for this program, endorsed by the MN Department of Education, is to help create a positive learning environment and support and create positive student behaviors. It will also strive to reduce discipline problems, support the teacher model of the program, and work for a safe and productive learning environment.
State Bank of New Prague donated a rug to be used throughout the school building. Staff chose the theme for the year to be, “All Students, All Staff, All Settings.” The rug reiterates the importance of the common set of expectations and pride at the school. We at the bank are proud to assist New Prague’s students and teachers in providing the best possible environment for learning.

Savers Express Summer Party
August 31, 2012
Summer Library Party
State Bank’s Savers Express Saving Club sponsored the New Prague Library’s Summer Reading Program End of Season Party in August. Four brave gentlemen, Mayor Chuck Nickolay, Police Chief Mark Vosejpka, Falcon Ridge Elementary Principal Dave Giesen, and Gymnastics Coach Doug Amundsen, volunteered to man the dunk tank. Several children, in the bank after the party at the library, were so excited that they were able to dunk their principal! The four men were very much in support of the summer reading program that is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Our Savers Express Saving Club members were treated to a pizza lunch before the Library Party. We transported our popcorn wagon to the library for free popcorn during the party. Besides the dunk tank, children enrolled in the reading program were able to slide down a giant blow-up slide and slather themselves with tattoos.
